Pitch Master 7, “Match a voice’s pitch”, is a lesson in listening to a voice reference and singing “ah” at the same pitch. Let’s explore the controls with the teacher.

Teacher, this time I answer with my own voice, right? Do I have to make it sound just like the reference?

You only need to match the pitch. It is fine if your voice has a different thickness or resonance. Listen to the reference, sing and record, then compare. Follow that order.
If you are reading this guide inside the app, tap “Game Start” at the bottom of the screen to begin practicing.
The screens shown here are examples to explain the controls. Backgrounds, notes, values, and results vary between practice sessions. Tap an image to enlarge it.
1. Choose a comfortable pitch and listen to the reference

What should I tap first?

Before recording question 1, use “The pitch of the voice that is easy to produce” at the bottom to choose “Low · C3,” “Middle · G3,” or “High · C4”. The selected button is colored. Start at a pitch where you can comfortably sing “ah”.

I cannot tap “record aloud” at the bottom right yet.

First, tap “Listen to the reference”. You will hear a human voice. If the pitch is unclear, listen again as many times as needed before recording. Choose a quiet place where you can sing, and allow microphone access when prompted.

There are 10 questions: one note in questions 1–3, two notes in 4–6, and three notes in 7–10. As notes are added, listen for the starting pitch and whether the next note goes up or down.
2. Watch the preparation bar after starting a recording

I remember the reference. Do I start singing as soon as I tap record?

After tapping “record aloud”, there is a 0.8-second preparation period. Stay silent and watch “vocal timing” at the top. The “preparation” bar moves from left to right; the first note begins when it reaches the right edge.

The reference voice does not play while recording. Remember the pitches you just heard and get ready. To stop partway through, tap “stop” at the bottom right.
3. Sing “ah” with the “First note, now!” cue

It says “First note, now!”!

That is when you start singing. Sing “ah” with the highlighted note, holding the same pitch until the bar reaches its end. Each note lasts 0.9 seconds. Watching the highlight is easier than counting seconds.

Do I keep singing for the second and third notes?

Stop your voice between notes and wait for the next note to light up. Sing “ah” for each note. After the last one, recording ends and the result appears. If a note could not be detected, the attempt is not scored and you must record the same question again.
4. Check the result and compare recordings of your voice

The result is here. Where can I see how far the pitch was off?

Look at the values below each note. + means higher than the reference, and − means lower. Your answer is correct if the central pitch of every recorded note is within one semitone of the reference, or within ±100 cents. Check the pitch of each note.

Is “corrected voice” my own voice?

Yes. It is your recording adjusted to the reference pitch. Listen to “own voice” first, then “corrected voice”. “Listen and compare” plays the original recording followed by the corrected voice. Listening to the correction does not change your original result.

To check the reference, use “Reference” at the bottom left. Sometimes a corrected version cannot be created, but you can still compare your voice with the reference.
5. Practice while watching your pitch on screen

I can hear a slight difference. But how much should I change the pitch?

Tap “Check your pitch by singing · Open +” below the result. In the graph, orange is the reference and blue is your recorded voice. Higher means a higher pitch. Check whether your line is above or below the reference.

Choose a note under “Practice note”, then tap “practice with microphone”. You will see your current voice as a red line or dots. Try a little higher or lower within a comfortable range. When finished, tap “stop the mic”.

If I sing well here, does my previous answer change?

Free practice does not change the result. To answer again, tap “record again”. The preparation bar starts immediately, so check the reference first. To continue, tap “Next question”. It is gray while the result animation plays and becomes available when the animation finishes.
6. Review your recordings after all 10 questions

I finished all 10! Can I hear my voice from earlier questions?

After question 10, tap “See results” to reach this screen. In the “Listen to recording of 10 questions” list, tap each question’s “Reference” and “own voice”, plus “corrected voice” when available. Swipe up or down inside the list to see later questions.

“listen to everything” plays each question’s reference followed by your voice. For questions you recorded again, it plays the recording kept when you moved to the next question. After listening, tap “Finish”.

You can replay recordings only while this lesson remains open. They are not kept after closing the lesson or restarting from the beginning, so listen to anything you want to check before finishing.

I’ll listen to the reference and sing “ah” when the note lights up. After singing, I’ll listen carefully to my own voice too!
