🎮 How to play Voijan

1. What can Voijan help you practice?

Consistently scoring well in Voijan helps you build the foundations of mixed voice!

For an explanation of the rock, scissors, and paper voice types, watch the video below by Knit Megane, the app’s supervising vocal coach.

2. What kind of game is it?

  • Use your voice to play rock, scissors, or paper, win battles, and earn high scores!
  • Consecutive wins activate combos that can multiply your score by as much as five!

Note: This game is for learners who are reasonably comfortable with Beginner 1 in the level-based practice. If you are new to rock, scissors, and paper voices, read this guide first!

3. Controls

  • Press Voice input at the bottom right and sustain “eh” for two seconds in one of the rock, scissors, or paper voice types.
  • Be careful not to cover your phone’s microphone.

4. Game flow

  1. The enemy plays rock, scissors, or paper.
  2. Press Voice input and sustain “eh” for two seconds using the voice type that beats the enemy’s hand.
(For example, if the enemy plays rock, use the paper voice.)
    Keep your pitch around C3–A3.
  3. Win to land an attack and add points!
  4. Consecutive wins earn a combo bonus!

5. Scores and combos

Winning adds points!
• Win with rock: +100 points
• Narrow win: +30 points
• Miss: 0 points

A combo begins after three consecutive wins!
The hand changes color, and points can multiply up to fivefold:
• Bronze (3 wins): ×2
• Gold (7 wins): ×3
• Rainbow (10 wins): ×5

However, if an enemy attack hits you as shown below, you lose 30 points. Keep using voice input to fight back!

6. Tips for a high score

  • Use a clear, strong voice!
  • Look carefully at the enemy’s hand before you respond!
  • Keep your pitch and voice quality steady for two seconds.

💥 For dedicated players: scoring strategy

You earn points by winning rock-paper-scissors, but specific scoring rules apply.
Your score also varies greatly with the enemy type and how accurately you produce the voice.

  • Rating 1 (Perfect): +100 points; your rock, scissors, or paper hand grows larger
  • Rating 2 (Normal): +60 points; a small attack appears
  • Rating 3 (Narrow win): +30 points; your hand becomes slightly smaller
  • Rating 4 (Miss): a miss earns 0 points

Enemy types also differ in attack frequency, hand size, and scoring as follows:

  • Cat: attacks often, but its attacking hand is small
  • Human: normal attack frequency and damage
  • Bear: attacks less often, but its attacking hand is large
  • Wizard: attacks often with a small hand. Losing also disables voice input for three seconds.
  • Deity (rare): attacks often with a large hand. Win to double your score; lose and your score is halved!

🌈 A combo continues only with Rating 1 (Perfect).
If you wonder why winning with scissors did not add any points, check the accuracy of your voice.

📌 Strategy tips at a glance

  • A steady pitch, steady volume, and the correct voice type make a good rating more likely.
  • Watch the enemy’s hand closely and respond with your voice!
  • Once you get used to the game, focus on keeping your combo going.
