LESSON GUIDE

Exercises and key points

Combining tongue positions and vocal fold control

Teacher

This lesson replaces the nasal “mmm” hum from Beginner 05 with “eh” through the mouth.

Student

Tongue curled: Keep the tip of the tongue covering the upper front teeth and say “eh” through the mouth in Goo, Choki and Paa voices. Tongue gently held: Lightly hold the very tip between the upper and lower front teeth, keep it from retracting into the mouth, and practice saying “eh” through the mouth in Goo, Choki and Paa voices. Is that right?

Teacher

Yes, that is right! Be careful not to let the sound come through your nose.
